Yogyakarta is the cultural soul of Java. In four days, this itinerary takes you from a hillside sunrise overlooking one of the world's great Buddhist temples to the Hindu grandeur of Prambanan, through royal palaces, batik villages, and a volcanic hilltop at golden hour.
Everything is handled. Airport transfers, air-conditioned private transport throughout, hotel with breakfast, all meals as per the itinerary, an English-speaking guide, and all entrance fees. You arrive, and the experience begins.
THE ITINERARY
Day 1: Airport to Obelix Seaview Arrive at Yogyakarta International Airport. Meet and greet, then transfer to Obelix Seaview to watch the sunset or enjoy the ocean view from the hill. Check in to hotel. Dinner included. Free program for the evening.
Day 2: Punthuk Setumbu Sunrise, Borobudur and Candirejo Village Wake up call at 3:00am. Drive to Magelang and make your way up Punthuk Setumbu hill before dawn. Watch the sunrise rise over the jungle canopy with the Borobudur stupa emerging from the morning mist below, one of the most photographed moments in Southeast Asia.
Continue to Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Candirejo Village by horsecart, a traditional Javanese village tour through home industries, agro plantations, and local food tasting. Return to Yogyakarta. Dinner included.
Day 3: Yogyakarta City Tour, Prambanan Temple and Ijo Temple Breakfast at hotel. Begin the day at Sonobudoyo Museum, then proceed to Kraton, the Sultan's Palace and walk through Taman Sari, the historic water castle of Kotagede.
Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple compound in Indonesia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. End the day at Ijo Temple at sunset, perched on the highest hill in the Yogyakarta region with panoramic views across the plain. Dinner and return to hotel.
Day 4: Departure Breakfast at hotel. Free program. Transfer to Yogyakarta International Airport for onward flight.
